About Yvonne — Lady With a Hammer
Hi everyone! I’m Yvonne, the creator and hands behind Lady With a Hammer.
I’ve been working with furniture in one form or another for as long as I can remember. What began as a lifelong passion has grown into a full-time business built on creativity, craftsmanship, and a genuine love for giving old pieces new life.
I was born and raised in Burlington, MA, and later moved to Woburn, MA, where I raised my two sons, Patrick and Ryan, as a single mother. Even back then, I found ways to work on furniture—often with a big plastic sheet spread across the living-room floor and a dresser propped up on soup cans right in the middle of the apartment. In those early days, crackle paint and decoupage were all the rage, and I dove right in.
In 2009, I bought my first home in Lowell, MA, and brought my love for refinishing along with me. A few years later, after a successful career as a high-ranking lab technician for one of the largest pharmaceutical companies, I decided to take a leap of faith. In 2015, I left the corporate world behind and officially launched Lady With a Hammer in Lowell.
Life brought even more exciting changes when I met my husband, sold my home, and moved to Manchester, NH—where I promptly took over his 23×23 garage and transformed it into my dream workshop. It’s now the heart of my business and the place where every piece is restored, renewed, or completely reimagined.
